A “hiccup” in the process?
“Hiccup” (hipo) you may know. Mortals sometimes have hiccups (…tienen hipo).
In life things do not always go to plan: there are hiccups (contratiempos, dificultades o interrupciones en los actos/en el plan). So, hiccups in this context are figurative (son figurativos).
Some examples:
- There have been some hiccups (ha habido algunos contratiempos en el camino) on the way.
- The English class went well, with only a few small hiccups (…con solo pequeños contratiempos).
- The project is progressing well, despite a few hiccups (el proyecto está progresando bien a pesar de algunos contratiempos).
So, in life there are often hiccups. I hope there are no hiccups in your meeting with Mr. Sánchez!
